New Year's Thoughts from Our President, Ogura2026/01/20

Focusing on the medical field

President and CEO, Japan Probe Co., Ltd.
Yukio Ogura,

In order to grow the business, I believe that it is necessary to develop and launch differentiated topical products, enter new fields, develop overseas businesses, and collaborate with partners with technological development capabilities.
Our company has been developing unique probes for some time, such as flexible probes that can fit three-dimensional curved surfaces and rough surfaces, and probes that do not require contact media. Recently, these probes have been actively used both in Japan and overseas for corrosion inspection of power generation equipment and inspection of weld beads on building structural materials, and there are also attempts to use them for mounting on drones.
The probe, which does not require couplants, received the “Kanagawa Industrial Technology Development Award in 2025”.
In new fields, we are focusing on medical applications, and are currently developing a "bowl-shaped sensor for photoacoustic imaging" that can diagnose the dynamics of blood vessels and lymphatic vessels, as well as a clinical trial probe that can treat pancreatic cancer and other conditions using a focusing beam called HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound), and we are working hard to bring these technologies to practical use.
In its overseas business, the company is also focusing on expanding sales of immersion probes, multi-channel array probes in Southeast Asia, Eastern Europe, and other regions.
It provides benefits in terms of cost, investment efficiency, and development speed for product development using an "open innovation" method, where companies with like-minded goals collaborate. Last year, we used this approach in collaboration with a leading domestic manufacturer to attempt to develop inline inspection equipment.
